Camille Lesne

Camille Lesné was a French artist, born in 1908 in Tracy-le-Mont, Oise, near the Compiegne forest. The forest calls and leaves an impression on visitors with its density of many oak and beech trees; Lesné was no exception to this mystical allure.

There, she acquired a spirit of serenity and sense of the mystery of nature. In this piece, she applies a pointillist technique on an object’s background color in order to create an impressionist image that memorializes soft experiences of her youth. Here, her technique works quite well, and value should increase with time.

The piece was purchased at the Wally Findlay Gallery in Chicago in 1982.
