Micheline Saint-Hilaire

Biography

Born in Montreal in 1947, Micheline Saint Hilaire now resides in Quebec City and Bertier-sur-Mer. She became interested in art through her friendship with many painters and first got interested in the beautiful Quebec scenery. For a long time Micheline spent her energies in mastering the various approaches to landscape painting.

Her recent works feature a more expressionist approach in which she shares with us her state of mind and her inner feeling of the moment.  The great sensitivity and joie de vivre of her generous personality is clearly obvious on her colourful canvases, memories of picnics in an imaginary and beautiful countryside.

Many of her works are found in private collections across Canada, the United States and France.

Collector: President of France Jacques Chirac, Marquis de la Croix Landole Château de Canton, Monsieur Erik Peladeau President Director of General Quebecor Canada, Institut Lise Watier.

Micheline Saint Hilaire paints like the way she lives:

Generous and welcoming. She is always friendly and warm.  She often gathers around the table people whose company she enjoys but whom she met in different places and at different times.  Her goal is that, although these people may start off being strangers, they may build new bonds. She thus wishes to extend her circle of friends, cultivating her relationships to make of them a garden that could span the entire planet… just like the flowers that so often cover the entirely of her canvases.

The table is set...a drink awaits you, tea is served, a comfortable chair is ready to welcome you. A painting by Micheline St. Hilaire is a celebration of friendship. Through her painting just as she is in life; generous and welcoming.   She wants to share with the people she meets what comprises her world; the objects, the cats and especially, the friendship.  This is why she often gathers around the same table people whose company she enjoys but whom she met in different places and at different times.
